Its already February and we’re nearing the end of our 10 week winter CSA. Here are a few things I’ve been grateful for during this strange winter season:
- Even if its just for a few minutes while standing outside with masks, I love seeing friends and neighbors at the bi-weekly CSA deliveries.
- Everyone, including kids, seem to love sweet winter carrots. I’m going to plant double next year!
- I built a new hoophouse! It will help extend my winter production and increase the reliability of summer harvests.
- My favorite time to harvest fresh lettuce, kale and arugula is when its snowing outside and the hoophouse or row covers provide just enough protection for the sweetest and tenderest greens of the year.
- I searched all sorts of seeds providers, ordered new seeds, and am planning to scale up for the spring season.
